The collection is an investigation into the entangled relations of fashion, space and body(-space), extending these relations into the virtual. Drawing on Gilles Deleuze’s The Fold: Leibniz and Baroque (1988/1993), the project conceptualises fashion as a site where spatial and bodily dimensions are inherently interconnected and are subject to renegotiation under virtual conditions. Folds and pleats function as the primary design element as an intrinsically space-creating structure, allowing explorations of continuity between interior and exterior, body and space, actuality and virtuality. Ultimately, the collection exists as a twofold assemblage: developed virtually in the 3D fashion design software CLO before being translated back into a textile form, the outfits are presented on a virtual runway which replicates the space in which the sewn collection was simultaneously exhibited.
